Over the years, I have snapped photos of the designs of embossed tin shingles found from New York to South Carolina. Several designs established themselves as the most popular style. As a contrast, in western Virginia and North Carolina, a regional stamped shingle appeared; apparently confining its installation to a several hundred mile area. Finally, thus far an 1870s design has been discovered on only two structures: on one home, the new owners had no idea of the importance of their roof! Return to Tin Shingle Main Page
