Owners of metal roofs rank Green as second most preferred color for standing seam panels. For some owners, the red tint is too common; others have decided that grey is too bland. Some customers have told me that their green tin roof "sits" better among the surrounding trees.

Modern coatings are available in the popular matted look or the shiny appearance. Most customers decide on the "matted" appearance for several reasons: The sheen of the matte-look is closer to the historical appearance of the early paints.  Plus a matte look hides imperfections commonly found on the older panels.

The shiny look requires a smooth panel surface. Some customers have been delighted with the luster of the recent green coating innovations

As described on other pages of the website, the green tints IN ACRYLIC tend to chalk. The acrylic itself is performing well, but the thin top layer of the green acrylic becomes white. Scratch the surface, there will be the original green color. As of 2010, we tend to apply a top coat of a green coating that avoids this pitfall.
